I went on a website to find a local wine-lover's group. I have recently learned about different types of wines and I really appreciate the processes the vintners' take to create their product. Living in California, there's a wealth of different grapes and yummy reds and whites from down south near the Mexican boarder, all the way up to the Oregon coast. (In fact, I actually love the Oregon and Washington whites-but I digress.) So, I joined this site to meet like-minded people for wine tastings, etc. I went on a couple of outings, but the people were a bit stuffy for the most part. I did meet one woman who mentioned a hiking group she joined that likes to have a potluck meal and drink wine after the day's exercise. I loved that idea. I went once and I was hooked. I've since joined four other hiking groups and get out at least three times a week. The first thing I bought was a good pair of boots. Next came the trekking poles. What a difference both those items made. Recently, I've been shopping for an overnight backpack. I went on OutlandUSA.com and loved their selection. I would consider buying other equipment from them, but for a pack, I'd want to be fitted properly. A couple of walk-in chain stores do that and offer the same products at the same price. It's tough to justify ordering online for the same cost when I can get it the same day.
