About The Walking Company:

I wouldn't classify myself as having foot problems. I do remember as a kid never wanting to wear shoes. I was barefoot quite a lot, especially in the summers. Even as a teenager, I remember taking off my shoes often. I don't know if my parents got me the wrong shoes or my feet are sensitive, but I can remember having blisters a lot. Maybe it was the socks? I don't know, but as an adult, I take great care to make sure I am comfortable when I'm on my feet. I've always been pretty active, so a running shoe is almost perfect for even everyday wear. I don't bother with high-heels hardly ever. The chunky heel is definitely easier to walk in, and if it's an open-toe shoe that's a bonus. I have bumps (maybe callouses?) on my baby toes, but I feel as if I've always had those. Unfortunately, a few years back, I developed a neuroma, which is a non-cancerous tumor on the nerve sitting between two toes. I had to have it surgically removed because it became too painful to even walk. Since then, I always wear orthotics to keep pressure off that part so I don't get a new tumor. I went on TheWalkingCompany.com and wasn't super impressed. They have a very large selection of boots, shoes, and sandals, but nothing jumped out at me except the expensive prices. I looked at the orthotics, but I'm not sure how I could buy something online that needs custom fitting.
