It seems like just yesterday I was complaining to my mom about high school. I felt like I had to take all these classes and I wasn't learning anything. I mean, maybe if I had applied myself more, but it seemed like a blur. I'm not sure if was my teachers, hormones, or just not knowing how any of that information could fit into my life. When I finally got to college (yes, we were all surprised I got in), I started to see more clearly how the world worked. My classes became far more interesting and important. I remember my first marketing class-I was blown away. I had no idea the amount of data and research that went into product development, marketing, and sales. It was very intriguing, but yet I still wasn't sure how I fit into that structure. I wound up with a bachelor's degree in retail marketing, but even then, I had no idea what path to take when I got out. I immediately grabbed a job as an assistant for a marketing co-executive at a small firm. I loved the people, but that company wasn't for me. I scoured the Internet and I finally hit upon TJX.com. This large umbrella oversees Marshall's and Sierra Trading Post, two of my favorite stores. I found out a wealth of knowledge as well as a section on careers. The application process is easily available online. I just hope the corporation is not so big that my resume gets lost in the shuffle.
