My mom used to donate all of our old clothing, toys, and whatever else either to the local churches, Goodwill, or the Salvation Army. She would get a tax-deductible receipt and off we'd go until the next time we cleaned out our closets. I never thought of actually shopping at those places until I moved out and got my own apartment. I got used to using used appliances. The prices were right and I never knew what I actually needed. It's funny because I would buy things like an apple-corer; that's something I would never really "need", yet, when I saw one for $1.50 in the store, I thought, "This comes home with me." I've learned over the years to shop online at discount sites for airline tickets, hotel rooms, and rental cars. I'm a bit wary now of shopping at "unknown" discount sites because often the goods are in a far away country and take anywhere from one month to three to arrive. Another reservation I have about cheap deals is that middlemen broker the products from the retailer and then sell later at a lesser price. More often than not, those sites do not refund or accept returns. DrGrab.com is a great example. This site has some fun (and useful) items. Most of them are things I don't really need. The things I need, I need sooner than later. The cost is on par, but the time designated to receive items, gives you 100 times to think about why you didn't need to order.
