Finding comfy, well fitting, durable hiking pants has always been a challenge for me. I see so many cute pairs on fellow female hikers, but when I go in the store, they just don't fit me right. I have one name-brand pair that fit OK and are holding together well, but I think they're kind of ugly. The color is a very bland shade of khaki and their just not very attractive. I found another pair, a bit better ecru color, and tighter fitting around the legs and waist. Standing and walking they do well. But when if comes time to climb, I have to pull the material up on my upper thighs or it pulls. They're not very flexible. Part of that could be because the material is water-repellent. Recently, on Coalatree.com I saw a pair of trekking pants I fell in love with. First of all, the blue color is fantastic. I have not been able to find others in that shade. Perhaps, however, the best part of the product is that it's made only from organic and recycled materials. I like that the waist is elastic-here's to hoping they fit well in length. The bottom of the pant leg also has ties. That's a great feature to keep mud, water, and bugs off my legs when possible. I saw that they're also super lightweight and can fold up into their own pocket! The price seems reasonable. I just hope I don't have to return them.
