1. Coffee
As the weather cools down, there’s no doubt you’re going to wanting your daily cup of Joe, or two, each morning. September brings good news for coffee loves because September 29 is actually National Coffee Day. So, what does this mean for you? Well, to put it simply, it means freebies and a whole lot of them! Many cafes and chains love to participate in this holiday because it brings in lots of business. So, take a look around and see which cafĂ© near you is going to be giving away free cups of coffee on this day. You may also find that some of these cafes will offer discounts on their higher priced beverages, which may make your day even better. Of course, during this time, you should see discounts on coffee in stores, so don’t forget to shop around during this date. Remember, it may be more worthwhile to buy coffee beans than ground coffee, especially if you’re looking to maximize your savings.

2. Appliances
September is definitely the month for bringing in the new and getting rid of the old. This can be really good for you though! A lot of the old appliances in numerous stores will actually take a huge price decrease. By huge, I mean you could be looking at 70% off savings, which is definitely worth a purchase. Everything from refrigerators and stoves to washers and dryers should be on sell during this month. You may want to hold out and wait for the Labor Day sales to hit though. However, if you don’t find a sale that speaks to you then simply walk away. Some items will take further drops after the big sales so that the stores can make more room for the new stock. Of course, even if you don’t find the deal of your dreams then you might want to wait to see if Black Friday offers you a better deal, but you may miss out if you don’t look around to see if the prices suit your needs now.

3. Bicycles
The beginning of school is the perfect time to upgrade everyone’s bicycles. With plenty of decent weather still available, commuting to and from school or work can be one of the best ways to get some exercise and save on money. Bicycles are almost as low as they’re going to go, with the exception of huge sales, like Labor Day blowouts, so if you need a new one now is the time to do so. Of course, you should always know what you actually need out of bicycle before you purchase one. A little research will get you well on your way though. If you’re shopping for children then try to look for adjustable bikes that can be altered to grow with your child opposed to forcing you to buy a new one every few months. Now is also the perfect time to do a little holiday shopping if you think a bike might be on the kid’s grand list. If you can find one still in the box then you’re well on your way to taking care of some of the big budget items on your holiday shopping list.

4. Lawn Supplies
Well, there’s good news about autumn and that is, you’re almost done with all of the lawn work you had to sweat over in the summer time. Of course, another tid bit of good news is the fact that all of the lawn care supplies should be going on sale in the month of September. If you’re looking to upgrade your lawnmower so you can get in one more mow before the freeze then now is the perfect time. From ride on movers to the classic pull mower, you should be able to see some amazing deals that will start you out right when spring rolls around again. You should also look around for other gardening supplies you may need in the future. For instance, weed eaters and tillers should be ready to go to the clearance aisle this month too. Gardening supplies, including seeds and bulbs, will also be on sale. So, if you plan on growing some plants inside then now is the time to stock up.

5. Sunglasses
You may see sunglasses as a summertime buy and you won’t be alone on the matter. However, the facts are, you should always have sunglasses to keep your eyes protected from the sun. Even if there’s ten inches of snow outside, sunglasses are a must when it comes to eye care. So, the good news is, you can stock up on sunglasses for fairly cheap in the month of September. Since most people are summer time sunglass users, these items aren’t nearly as in demand in the autumn and winter months. Plus, by the time summer rolls around again, there will be an all new stock available to suit your fashion needs. Don’t just stop with new sunglasses though. If you happen to need a prescription then now is the time to get a custom pair cut for you. This will minimize the amount of time you end up using eyewear without a prescription, which is much better for your eyes. Or, it can help keep your eyes healthy if you happen to run out of contacts and need to wear sunglasses. You may also want to consider checking out transition lenses to help bring even more convenience to your life.

6. iPhone/iPad
September is a big month for a lot of people. This year, Apple announced that the new iPhone 6s will be released on the 18th of this month, which means you’ll either be turning in your old phone and buying the new one or you’ll probably be upgrading your old phone to something a bit newer. All of the older iPhones will be going on sale slightly before the release of the new phone begins, which will give you a good chance to upgrade before the line wraps around the block. Of course, this is also the perfect time to stock up for the holiday season as iPhones make great holiday gifts, especially for members of the household that aren’t quite ready for the latest items on the market. This is also a great time to check out the prices of tablets. Although a new iPad release isn’t happening now, that doesn’t mean it will be excluded from the sales events that lead up to the iPhone 6S release.

7. Cars
If your car is barely trucking along or you think you may want to check out a newer model, then you’ve waited until the right month to do so. September is all about the car sales for a number of reasons. First and foremost, Labor Day is notorious for getting cars out the door at an amazing price, which is why so many people choose to shop during this time of the year. Of course, there is a bit of a hidden agenda about these sales. Sure, they are celebrating a holiday, but they’re also helping car dealerships get rid of their stock so they can welcome in the newer models that will be released later in the month. Have no fear if you miss out on the sales though, generally as the release dates get closer, dealerships will keep marking down the cars to ensure they get them off the lot. This is a great time for you to swoop in and get a worthwhile deal. You may even get a few freebies to help you out!

8. Airfare
If you’re still shopping around for holiday airfare then September is probably the best time to buy. In fact, it may be your last chance before the holiday season begins. Most airlines will have a few deals, especially around Labor Day, but once this month is over, airfare is probably going to skyrocket because of the busy season. If you can, begin looking around for flights as soon as possible and try to see if any airlines are going to post spoilers about potential sales. If you can’t find good enough fair during the Labor Day sale then you might as well begin looking for the best deal possible. Of course, your options aren’t limited to planning for winter holidays, but you may want to look for refundable or exchangeable tickets for Spring Break.

9. Pool Equipment
Pools can be pretty pricey, especially during the primary swim season. Rather than waiting until next year to stock up on supplies, now is the perfect time to do it. Most items will be going on sale, so make sure to get your fill of cleaners, filters, tools, toys and anything else that may make your pool amazing next year. Of course, you may also want to consider getting some of the high dollar equipment now. For instance, if you’ve had your eye on a pool cleaner for some time then it may be affordable now. This will also help you get your pool in order before you have to prepare to winterize it. Of course, if you don’t already have a pool, then some of the large above ground pools should be on sale at this time. In fact, if you look around long enough, you may be able to find a large pool with a deck and all of the equipment at a price that is more than fair.

10. Luggage
Another great item for your future travel plans that will be on sale in September is actually luggage. You can find amazing brands and designs during Labor Day sales which will help make your travel plans a whole lot easier. Of course, if you’re looking to save a whole lot of money then you might want to consider buying lightweight luggage. You can usually find sets of suitcases that are well made and water resistant so you won’t have to worry about spending too much on luggage fees. It doesn’t matter what size items you’re looking for either. Generally, you can find plenty of models on sale and you may even get lucky and find a luxury set. Of course, to do this you might have to look around on the internet during the holiday.

September is a great time to save money, so you can allow your household’s budget to recover from summer before you run into the fast paced holiday months. With all of these amazing items to save money on, you should be ready to take on anything the upcoming months or year have to bring your way. So, take some time to relax because September pricing and these frugal tips will make sure you don’t spend too much.
