Anyone who has ever been or known a teenage boy knows Topps as being THE brand when it comes to collectable sports trading cards. It used to be that you could only buy packs of Topp's cards at the store, and trading cards were all that you got. But a quick visit to Topps.com shows any sports fan that this is no longer your father's Topps! The company has evolved with the changing times and expanded its merchandise to include apparel, wall art, and memorabilia sure to make any collector downright giddy! Topps.com also offers a limited amount of collectables for the nostalgic non-sports fan from franchises such as Mars Attacks, Garbage Pail Kids, Skylanders, and MiniKins mini-figures.
Topps.com also demonstrates that it is on par with the ever-changing times with its three Apple brand apps: Topps BUNT (baseball), Topps NFL (football), and Topps KICK (Barclay's Premier League). Each of these apps sync up with each user's personal card collection and allows them to chat with other sports fans, track their preferred teams and players, and even earn points based on the performance of the players each user holds in their personal deck.
My only complaint is that their additional merchandise is definitely catered to a specific audience, and audience of sports collectors. They are not stocking up for the masses who are looking for general merchandise for any team; rather they are only holding very select items from very select teams from very select years. They still sell their cards for any and all athletes, but beyond that, don't expect an incredibly wide selection.
