I have always loved mom-and-pop type stores. Boutique-shopping, from my perspective, is a lost-luxury. It's amazing how we have access to billions of products, yet so many of them are incredibly similar. I have made it my quest to seek out shops in-person and online that provide unique, hand-crafted items. They don't necessarily have to be made in America, but if they are foreign, I prefer there be some type of cultural significance, not just something that was made out of the country so it would cost less to sell here.

One of the most fun sites I've discovered is ShopTiques.com. They have an amazing assortment of clothes, accessories, home goods, and gifts. The actual store is based on Long Island in New York. I don't mean to sound snobbish, but the East coast tends to offer a classier array of goods. There may be more spendable dollars on the West coast, but generally, newer styles and trends drift from the east to the west.

One of my favorites things I've ever bought from this site is throw-pillows. They were not cheap, but they unique and look fantastic on my couch. The colors are vivid and the quality is unmatched. I always want to order them as gifts, but you don't really know other peoples' decorating tastes. One item I've bought a couple of times for two different people was the "flat" bottle of wine cheese plate. It's kitschy and chic at the same time. I like their plates, but I wish they offered some as a set.
