About Homage:

What a strange time it is to be an American. I've always felt proud about living in the United States. I grew up in an area of New York where cultural and ethnic diversity thrived. People held strong to their ancestry and native backgrounds. There was an Italian neighborhood, Chinese, Russian, and their families and friends stayed close and loyal. But in the city, it was truly a melting pot. Everyone meshed together and went about their daily lives. There were definitely racial and ethnic differences, but it didn't feel like hatred. It was more like an acknowledgment that although we come from different backgrounds, we all respect one another as human beings. Even my relatives who lived in the South called me a "Yankee." It was a way to joke about history. They didn't hate me because my family moved to the northeast. I've always been patriotic but in a mindful way. I've been fortunate enough to have traveled to other countries. We have great liberties here. But, I'm really cautious these days about what I say. And when it comes to wearing clothes that "say" something, I'm even more cautious. For example, I really like a lot of the tee shits on Homage.com that promote passion for the USA. I'm just not comfortable wearing them nowadays for fear that my personal feelings will be misconstrued. The one shirt I would wear is the peace sign. The price is excellent, and I'm a big fan of the racerback style.
