About Hand2mind:

Before Joe and I decided to start our own family, there were several things we discussed. Of course, one of the first things we talked about was religion. Would we be a "religious" family? He was raised Catholic and my family was a mix, all belonging to different faiths, churches, and temples. Another consideration was where we would live. We both had lived in cities and in more rural areas, so coming to a decision was tricky. There are so many great things about growing up in "the country." The communities are usually smaller and more tightly knit. Often there is less crime. On the other hand, sometimes there is a small-mindedness in rural or suburban areas. The city can be more polluted and often dangerous. However, the urban areas offer more cultural experiences like museums, theater, restaurants, etc. All of these were considerations we mulled over together before having the kids. And then there was the topic of education. Joe went to public school and got a fairly decent education. I went to private schools all throughout my earlier years. Anyway, we agreed that I would home-school our children. It's a personal decision and so far, we are all happy with it. Hand2mind.com has great visual tools I can use to help teach. I assume it's a site for teachers, but I think their products are great for anyone helping to educate. They offer supplemental curriculum, which we really need. The site also has great free online resources, like videos and ready-made lessons.
