About Seedling:

I don't remember having friends over when I was a kid and calling them "playdates." We just asked mom if we could have a friend over and if she said yes, they came over. They walked over or an adult dropped them off. There was no "plan" necessarily. We kids figured out what we were going to do when we got together. Sometimes we played board games. Other times we went out to the park and played Frisbee, tag, or hide and seek. If we couldn't go out, we'd experiment baking cookies, painting, whatever. I can recall doing "projects." Like a couple of times we made our own soap or candles. If I got a "kit" as a gift on a holiday or birthday, I'd usually wait to use it with a friend. Sometimes my mom would supervise, especially if it was something dangerous like using the oven or electricity. But for the most part, our friends and I just got together and winged it. Then we'd raid the fridge or pantry and get ourselves something to eat when we got hungry or thirsty. Nowadays it seems kids are pampered. The moms or nannies make little healthy snacks and organize an activity. That's why I like to give gifts from Seedling.com. They sell tons of fun, artistic, imaginative kits, from making a tug boat to excavating minerals from rocks. It's cheaper than buying each item separately, and it's one-stop shopping. I used to love stores like this-thank goodness there's one online now.
