I remember when having a trainer was very exclusive. Only boxers or the rich had people "train" you in exercise. Many moons ago, I had an actress friend. We played tennis together once a week. Besides that, going to an occasional aerobics class was about all the exercise we did. For her job, she needed to be in the best shape. There was a guy who was starting a workout business and offered "circuit" training-this was a concept no one was practicing yet. He charged $60 an hour well over 10 years ago. That's a lot of money, and for back then, it was a fortune. My friend asked me and two other gal pals of ours to split the cost and join in the session. We each paid $15 and got the workout of our lives. (This trainer, by the way, has since become quite famous.)
Nowadays, it has become more fashionable to workout and it's actually become more fun. Music and dance incorporated into fitness can be pretty exciting. On LesMills.com, you can find a local club and choose your style, like Bodypump or Bodyjam. The most interesting thing about the site is how it encourages you to become a trainer. For those of us who are motivated, love working out with others, and feel like we can lead, it sounds like a great opportunity. On the other hand, if you are more of a follower and just want to be guided, the trainer courses wouldn't be a good fit.
