My dad always wore nice white T-shirts under his button-down work shirts. They were nice because they were clean, not wrinkly, and it was what proper men wore under they finer duds. I think it became the thing to wear because men didn't want to sweat through their outer shirt. Also, if no undershirt was worn with a thin dress-shirt, then it might look inappropriate with too much skin or hair showing through.
My boyfriend just passed his bar exam. It's time for him to look his best. He's worn nice clothes and looked professional during his internship at the law firm, but now he'll be going on interviews and meeting with clients. I already bought him some gorgeous cufflinks. I will surprise him with those. They also wiped me out financially. Anyway, I wanted to give something else too, as a token, but also useful. I thought undershirts would be good. I went to the mall and I got annoyed quickly. Everything was made so flimsily and cost way too much. I didn't want anything "trendy" or that had a logo on it! I just wanted a plain, well made white, rounded-neck Tee shirt. I went on Hanes.com, even though I only think of them as nerdy underwear. I was surprised and pleased when I saw their items online. I actually found great, preshrunk, solidly made, cotton Tees at, arguably, the best price for any undershirt quality-comparable. I wish Hanes.com had a "cooler" image; I would have shopped there sooner.
